Last Thursday we organized an event in our Trofarello (TO) production center, it was a very pleasant occasion in which we presented all to our customers and partners our technologies.

It was a significant moment because we had the opportunity to describe how the evolution of technology allows us to be "4.0" without putting aside personal relationships and synergies between companies with complementary skills.

We strongly believe in teamwork as in technological innovation and this has been the key to our success.

The main topic of the day was the presentation of the new Hp 3D Jet Fusion printer and its enormous potential.

We have also talked about our dream of being able to build a whole car inside our production center by bringing together additive and subtractive technologies (Rapid Developing Concept Cars ) and the new way of thinking additive through the use of latest generation software.

On display there were Charlotte Frangivento, Moncenisio, One Off Tesla and Maserati Monoposto.

To describe our day with 3 words I would say:

…. a perfect combination for a successful event.

All I have to do now is to thank all those who have participated in the success of this event and all the customers who believe in us and entrust to us their projects every day.

Why do we always hear about anything that does not works in our country?

We want to dedicate more time to telling all the good things we do in our nation, for example thanks to the work of companies investing in research and development in all sectors.

Thanks to 3D printing, it is now possible to produce replicas of human organs and their malformations for training, study and above all pre-operative simulations. What does all this mean? More training opportunities, and above all a drastic reduction of errors in diagnosis and intervention.

All this is possible thanks to innovative technologies but also thanks to the skills and the research and development of young engineers and biomedics who dedicate their time to new ways to improve the world.

Addictive technologies also allow to create complex geometries impossible to achieve with traditional technologies, but is that the real advantage? Creating new shapes makes it easier to lighten objects and models, therefore lower consumption for example in automotive or aeronautics world.

“The story of a model's birth: from design to mock up”

Made in Italy still has its charm in so many fields fashion, food, design, but also manufacturing.

Skorpion Engineering has always collaborated with the design institutes for the realization of models designed by students, but it is an honor to see that in recent years our expertise is recognized also abroad.

It is the case of the students of the Royal College of Art Vehicle Design in London.

We were honored to see on display in this important school models realized in our production center.

These are made by combining different technologies, choosing the most suitable technology for each particular. For example, HP's Jet Fusion 3D technology has been used for small internal and external details, which has also allowed us to win a race against time! For the whole model we used our 5-axis CMS milling machine, while for the realization of transparent details we have milled and polished the plexiglass.

Assembly and painting were the activities that required more care and attention and the result we leave you to judge.

This video shows the creation of a chain ring of over 100 grams in only 30 minutes but the most impressive aspect is the fact that this ring can lift 4500 kg of weight.

The installation of this machine in our production center of Trofarello took place about two months, and every day we discover the advantages of this technology. First of all, the speed of production. We managed to deliver 1000 small pieces over 48 hours, is not it amazing?

In the Hp world we have always talked about pixels, but now that the print is three-dimensional, the "Voxel" was born. In 3D printing, a voxel indicates a value on a normal grid in a three-dimensional space; It is a kind of pixel with volume. Each voxel contains volumetric information that will give rise to a product giving it the desired properties.

Summing up the benefits of this technology consist of:

- Ability to create even complex geometries

To this regard, we have purchased modeling software SolidThiking that allow us to simplify and reduce as much as possible the component’s mass, depending on the constraints to be respected, the materials to be used and the forces to apply. In addition, since these are hybrid modeling systems based on the PolyNurbs, they are versatile and parametric and hence, effectively combine design freedom with optimization and structural analysis functions. Once the project has been defined and approved, it is possible to export data to a software such as Magics to create the product through additive manufacturing.”
