The advantages of creating a car grille with additive technologies

As we have already explained several times thanks to the combination of additive and subtractive technologies, we are able to realize all the components of a car.
oday we want to talk to you about the technologies we can use to create a grille and their advantages.

The choice of technology to be used depends primarily on the use that you must do the grille, so if mounted on a working vehicle must use the FDM technology that is able to create any geometry in a very short time and with definitive materials such as abs. Just out by machine the workpiece must be sanded very carefully in order to eliminate the visible layer and then painted. After this process the grille looks like a piece of production.

On the other hand, if we are talking about an exhibition model we can resort to stereolithography, a technology that allows us to create monolithic details up to 20000mm.

Stereolithography guarantees a very high aesthetic level, even when just out of the car the detail has a very nice appearance and a good attention to detail.

Sintering and multijet technology are the most rapid and economical technologies and therefore their strategic advantage lies in the possibility of printing a grille in 3D, even for a fitting test, guaranteeing fast times and the highest level of precision.

In these hours all the car-styling and the Turin-style centers are in turmoil for the final touches to the beautiful cars that will be presented next week at the Geneva Motor Show.

For weeks we have worked incessantly to get perfect results and to agree design and production. From style to finishes every detail is treated to the maximum but you know what's new? There are more and more style centers that sometimes by choice and sometimes due to the scarcity of time use rapid prototyping technologies to create high performance parts and in a very short time.

Stereolithography is often used to produce planks, bumpers, and showcar interiors, this technology has two advantages: one is the aesthetic value and the other the possibility of creating monolithic details up to 2000x1000x1000mm

FDM is often used to make headlight boxes, ailerons and other components that must have technical strength as well as speed of construction.

The sintering of Naylon is used for style tests, production is very rapid and also cheaper than other rapid prototyping technologies.

The new frontiers of 3D printing: Jet Fusion Hp

The HP Jet Fusion 3200 3D printer with Multi Jet Fusion 3D technology has the ability to print objects in 3D up to 10 times faster than current 3D printing technologies and in a more economical way, without compromising quality, detail and robustness of the product.

To considerably reduce printing time, MJF is based on Thermal Inkjet technology, which approaches surface material and not point-like.

The 3D printing process develops with the fusion of the material through fusion lamps and the drafting of two chemical agents, respectively one of fusion and one of detail. The first together with the melting lamps melts the powder solidifying it, the second defines the geometries of the piece.

The real HP Jet Fusion 3D news is the use of two different inks: a casting agent and a detail agent. The first gives heat to the material, the second defines it according to the instructions in the file.

About 6 months have passed since the installation of the first Fusion jet at our Trofarello production center and we can say that the expectations on this technology were very high and were largely met.

Every day we make prototypes and small series of details impossible to achieve with traditional technologies and above all parts rethought in additive optics.

Thanks to jet fusion technology and the exclusive PA12 material we have created steering wheels, display models, production parts and medical models in a very short time and with excellent results.
